Surveys — ask, then read the answers back

Surveys lets you build a questionnaire, send it to a group of people, and see the answers collected in one place. Recipients answer through a public link — they do not need a TSync account, and they do not see anything else in your system.

Typical uses: a satisfaction survey after a project closes, a short form to qualify new leads, an internal poll of staff.

Open it

Utilities → Surveys in the sidebar, or /admin/surveys.

Build the questionnaire

Press New survey, give it a name and a description, then add questions one at a time. Each question has a type, and the type decides both how it is answered and how it can be reported:

Type The respondent In the results
Input types one short line listed answer by answer
Textarea types a longer free text listed answer by answer
Radio picks one of your options counted per option, with a chart
Checkbox picks any number of your options counted per option, with a chart

The practical consequence is worth deciding before you send, not after: only radio and checkbox produce countable results. A free-text question gives you a list of sentences to read, which is valuable but cannot be summed or charted. If you want a percentage at the end, ask it as radio or checkbox.

For radio and checkbox you add the options ("boxes") under the question. Questions can be reordered by dragging.

Send it

Open the survey and use Send. You choose the audience:

  • Customers — the contacts of your customer accounts
  • Leads — everyone in your leads list
  • Staff — your own team
  • Mailing lists — the lists defined on the survey itself

You can insert custom fields into the message so each recipient gets their own name and details rather than a generic greeting.

Each recipient receives their own link containing a unique hash. That link is what identifies the response, so it is personal: forwarding it means the answer will be recorded under the original recipient.

Read the results

Results shows every question with its answers. Radio and checkbox questions are shown as counts per option with a chart beside them; input and textarea questions are shown as a list of what people wrote.

A survey stays open as long as you leave it active — results update as answers arrive.

Things worth knowing before you send

  • Check the question types first. Changing a question from free text to radio after people have answered leaves you with two incompatible sets of answers for the same question. Decide before sending.
  • The link does not require a login, so treat it as public. Anyone holding the link can answer. Do not put anything confidential in the questions themselves.
  • One send per audience, not per person. If you send to Customers twice, contacts who already answered are not protected from receiving it again — check the send history before repeating.
  • Removing a question removes its answers. There is no way to recover them afterwards.

If nothing arrives

Surveys are sent as e-mail, so the usual e-mail checks apply, in this order:

  1. Is outgoing e-mail configured and working? Test it from Settings → Email. If TSync cannot send any e-mail, it cannot send a survey either.
  2. Do the recipients have e-mail addresses? A customer contact or lead without one is silently skipped.
  3. Spam folders. A first-time bulk send from a new domain very often lands there.

The sending configuration itself lives in Settings → Email — see General concepts for how settings pages are organised.
